Free Sushi for a Year? That’s How We Roll!

9 Apr

As a part of the three-day, corporate-owned How Do You Roll? Re-Grand Opening celebrations, we promised one lucky, loyal roller free sushi rolls for a year! Hundreds of you went to our locations in the Triangle, 2nd Street District and Arbor Walk Shopping Center to take advantage of $3.33 rolls and swipe your High Roller card for a chance to win.

After collecting all of the entries, we randomly selected our winner: Matt!

Matt is all about creating his own roll, and from the picture he sent us (see right) we think he’s fairly creative.

“I always make my own roll: Soy wrap, brown rice, sprouts and double cucumber, escolar, with crab mix on the inside, and Japanese mayo on top. The cucumber keeps the roll solid so it can still be cut with the crab mix inside instead of on top. Try it, I think you’ll be very happy,” he wrote to us. “Only 389 calories and 18g of protein!”

After looking up Matt in our loyalty system, we discovered that he’s a true hdyr? fanatic and went each day to celebrate the three different re-grand openings.

“As a coach I train people in enjoying their life, business, relationship, whatever and have them create an environment that supports that. I love that HDYR creates an environment for its employees and customers that has them enjoy walking in the doors.”

Congrats Matt and we hope you enjoy all of that sushi!

Thanks to Matt and all of you who made our celebrations such a success! We love that you love us!

Rock On, Rockin’ Roller!

17 Jan

Shoot for the moon; even if you miss you’ll land among the stars.

We’ve all heard that before, whether it was our parents, teachers or friends encouraging us to be the best we can be. But what happens when you reach the top? At HDYR?, the answer to that is simple. We reward you!

Many have shown that they are dedicated sushi eaters, but one has out-shined the rest. He’s eaten more HDYR? than anyone and he’s not stopping anytime soon. He’s the rock star of sushi.

We’re talking about Scott Reep, of San Antonio. Scott is the first HDYR? fan to reach the coveted status of Rockin’ Roller in our loyalty program. Being the first to the top is no simple feat. It takes a lot of dedication, and a lot of sushi.

Scott’s wife first introduced him to the Stone Oak HDYR?, and it’s the service that keeps him coming back. Of course, the food, relaxed atmosphere and price point are enticing, but the superstar staff and leadership truly have an impact on his experience at HDYR?

So, what does the rock star eat?

“Personally, I like a spicy tuna roll on traditional paper with white rice, adding avocado, asparagus and green onion.  Also added to the roll are generous amounts of chili powder, a decent amount of chili oil, and then topped with the spicy orange mayonnaise,” Scott told us.

Although Scott has his favorite roll, he’ll often order two and switch up the ingredients on the second roll. As for sides, he says he usually orders calamari salad and puts ponzu sauce on top.

As the owner of a small business, Scott sincerely enjoys being able to support his local HDYR? and is excited to be the first Rockin’ Roller. We’re pretty stoked too!

At the Rockin’ Roller level of our Frequent Roller Program, we up the rewards- big time. For registering, you receive a free roll. For your birthday, you receive a free roll. And as usual, for every 10 rolls you buy, you earn a free roll. All free rolls as a Rockin’ Roller can be redeemed for up to $9.50. That’s a pretty sweet deal if you ask us. Rockin’ Rollers can also interact with us on social media to win more free rolls.

If you’re a dedicated roller, you too can earn your way to Rockin’ Roller. For more information on how to become a Rockin’ Roller, check out our loyalty page on our website.

Keep on rollin’!

We’re dreamin’ big!

17 Nov

The weather outside is… well… cold. Jack Frost is slowly (and I really mean slowly) creeping into Texas, and all of us at How Do You Roll? are bundling up in order to avoid the inevitable goose bumps that come from chilly weather. In addition to stocking up on tissues, hand sanitizer, blankets and Vitamin C, we’re filling our stomachs with steamy miso soup and delicious California rolls that have us dreaming of a much warmer place. This combination of miso soup and Cali rolls has helped us overcome our “winter blues,” so much so that we want to share it with you, our favorite sushi fanatics. While you’re out braving the below-comfortable temperatures, doing whatever it is that makes you… well… you, stop by your nearest HDYR? for a Cali roll and miso soup for a heart-warming price of $5. We promise that this will have you “California dreamin.’” With the onset of winter, don’t crawl into your hibernating hole for too long or you’ll miss out on this limited time offer.

But wait, what’s that? There’s more? HDYR? is giving away a trip for two to California for 3 days and 2 nights… how awesome is that? Also, each person who enters will get a free roll added to his or her Frequent Roller card. Here’s how you enter:

  1. Go to the most accessible HDYR? location and snap a photo of you in your beach gear
  2. Post that picture to the official How Do You Roll? Facebook page
  3. Share it with your friends, the person who posted the photo with the most “Likes” will win

It’s seriously that easy.

A few disclaimers:

  1. One entry per person, per frequent roller card
  2. You must be 18+
  3. Inappropriate pictures will be disqualified and taken down at HDYR?’s discretion
  4. The contest ends January 31, 2012 at 11:59 PM Central Time

For official details and rules, check out our website. I can’t wait to see how creative you get!

Come in. Warm up. Roll out.
